Student Competition Center Photogrammetry Tour
Summer 2024
This is the largest and most interactive photogrammetry project I’ve worked on yet! For the time being, this is probably my magnum opus of photogrammetry projects. I've learned a lot over the past two years, led a photogrammetry VR museum team, built a custom cursed photogrammetry VRChat and Bonelab avatar from scratch, and published multiple spaces from the Georgia Tech campus for public viewing. I am very proud of this final project and I kind of want to move on from photogrammetry and work on bigger and better things, like VAIL. :)
During the Spring semester, I spent almost two whole days with Connor Wright and Austin Graves scanning the entire Student Competition Center, all of their cars both in-progress and completed in high quality, and interviewing all of the racing team leads in spatial video. I then spent 5 hours a week the whole summer adding features and polishing the project to be experienced both in VRChat and Microsoft Mesh.
Features include:
The ability to toggle between viewing two stages of production of multiple competition cars.
You can sit in any car.
10 minutes of looping ambient background audio I recorded.
Spatial video interviews of team leads from every SCC racing team edited with B-roll.
A birds-eye-view observation deck with the roof cut off the model for easier viewing.
Settings panels throughout the space that allow you to toggle video players and seats, or teleport to key places in the space.
The most effort I've put into a YouTube video yet, with B-roll and music.
Technically Quest compatible but not really due to the nature of polygon and texture size limitations in photogrammetry.
The goal of this project is to enable incoming and current students (or anyone who's curious) who may not have access to the Student Competition Center to view it from anywhere in the world.
Thank you to the team at the SCC for letting us interview you and share the awesome work you do!
