MIT Reality Hack 2023

January 2023

On the weekend after school started, I flew to Boston with 5 other people from our Georgia Tech XR club to MIT to compete in an XR hackathon for 5 days. This was one of the best experiences of my life. I got to almost 100% my XR headset bucket list, and I met so many cool people who are in the industry and just as excited about this tech as I am. The project I made was with two NYU students, Sophie Xu and Shiqi Wang, and Elias Jimenez, who was there trying to learn more about Unity development to lead an AR startup. They were great friends. We did not have the skills to match many of the other people there, but I learned more there than in any other project I’ve done. The volunteer mentors and friends at SnapDragon were also exceptional in helping us keep the momentum going when GitHub or Unity inevitably decided to break.

TLDR, we made 3 low poly nature-related hand-tracking mini-games in AR with the SnapDragon Spaces AR SDK. We ended up being grand finalist!
